Shimmering Rage (2021)
Polymer enamel, acrylic and copper leaf, on repurposed card
21cm x 29cm
‘Shimmering Rage’ by Sigrid Macdonald is such an evocative title. The warm tones in the work are an explosion of rage on the substrate. The curls and dots of line and texture truly keep your eyes moving around the piece, as if the rage is shimmering.
The movement and colour keep the eye traveling, while the areas of metallic colour trap the eyes on their journey, until the they are again set in motion by the daubed chains or intense purple cracks. The longer you view the piece, the more partial forms are revealed, as the mind seeks order in the chaos.
