Rhyzome: Aerial Landscape (2021)
‘Rhizome: Aerial Landscape’ by M. Sunflower brings to mind island topography on first viewing. The greens of nature and aerial landscapes, the textures and lines of maps and mountains. The rhizome pattern is active, yet caught in an instant of stability. Topographical lines draw us to seek the peak of the landscape, only to find ambiguity. Our island is surrounded by pastel ocean, juxtaposing the frenetic activity of the rhizome. The work asks questions on the nature of connectivity, but waits for no answers; the rhizome is complete unto itself, the rhizome is an island.
